Our Last Stars of the week

Diya and Nickyle have both worked really well this term. Unfortunately Nickyle wasn't there when I took the photograph but it doesn't mean to say that I am not really proud of him. Diya you worked like a real angel this term. Well done!

Winnie the Pooh Picnic

Our librarian, Claire Reguard, set up the most delightful Winnie the Pooh picnic! The children started the day making their masks. Once that had been completed they went down to the field where games that Christopher Robin had played had been set up. They had great fun in pinning on the Eeyore tail, playing Pooh sticks, doing Tigger jumps as well as attempting Hoola Hoops. After trying their hand out at these various games they all set out with their picnic lunches. Too dear!

Beach Outing

Great fun was had at the beach! We had perfect weather conditions and the children had a wonderful morning playing games. Mel and I had set up five stations. Most of the activities were to re-enforce counting as well as measurement. The group dynamics were interesting to watch especially at the scratch patch! We all were very reluctant to leave  but all good things come to an end!

Our Class Stars of the Week

THE BIG WIDE MOUTHED FROG!

Mel and I decided to try and improve the children's creative writing as well as their understanding of the semantics of the English language. Thus we used this beautiful book as the spring board to our lessons! What a wonderful time we had exploring language. The children used their own ideas and created their own stories using a similar story line. They loved it so much that we ended up making crocodiles as the in the story the big wide mouthed frog meets a crocodile at the end who loves to eat big wide mouthed frogs! As a result the frog suddenly decided that in fact he was not a big wide mouthed frog but a very small narrow mouthed frog! Mel and I decided to try and improve the children's creative writing as well as their understanding of the semantics of the English language. Purim : Jewish Festival on Thursday

Everyone had great fun on Thursday when the whole school celebrated the Jewish Festival of Purim. The theme for the day was Princes and Princesses of Persia. After a wonderful assembly where the Rabi explained what Purim was, the Grade 6 organised a festival of games to celebrate the occassion. It was a really happy day.

Maths with a difference on World Book Day

Mel and I decided that we would make maths booklets with our class!

World book day : 1 March

We had a wonderful day celebrating World Book day. The Grade 2's were each paired with a Grade 5. Each Grade 2 read their book to their partner.....delightful to watch! Such enthusiasm from both parties!
