Yesterday two dear grannies came to share their knowledge about knitting and crocheting and french knitting with us! Great granny Avril told us that she has retired and has spare time. She mostly reads and watches TV but spends many hours knitting. She makes dolls for the AIDS orphans in Underberg. She explained how she made them. 'Granny' Wendy told us how she teaches her granddaughter to crochet and do french knitting. We then explained to the children how we used to make 'pom poms' in our youth! We all then made pom poms to eventually turn into Plop! It was a lovely morning and the children did so well. Mel and I were very impressed!

Gogo Goodness
Continuing with this theme on Thursday we decided to put the children's interviewing skills into practice. "Goodness" is one of the ladies who help us at our school and she is a granny. We invited her to come to our classroom and each child had an opportunity to ask her a question which she happy answered. We learnt so much from her about how life has changed particularly in South Africa. The children then wrote about what they had learnt. A fantastic experience for all of us. Thank you Goodness.
