So the day eventually dawned and the children arrived excitedly thinking that they may really be heading off for AUSTRALIA! Unfortunately they only had to use their imaginations and so some were very disappointed that they weren't actually boarding a flight to Aussie!
Mel and I had made passports for them and they started the day filling in their forms and having their photos printed! We also discussed visas and passport control. Soon they were ready to leave on a bus for the airport! They arrived (with pretend luggage) and were soon all in possession of a ticket.

We then went through passport control
And they all boarded their flight and were seated on the plane!
The 'air hostesses' set up a safety guide showing what the airline procedures were.......
They were also given a short presentation of Sydney before they landed!
Straight after landing they caught a bus to travel to their hotel and what should be wandering around on the road but some.....EMU ( Mel had downloaded a clipping of this and the children were delighted!)
Normality resumed as we read the book for the week
Having read the story the children went back to their own classrooms and had to write down 6 questions ( with answers) based on the story which we will use as the basis for our comprehension exercises on Thursday!
