Mel and I found an experiment in a book entitled " Deep sea diver" We thought that this would be an ideal opportunity to try a simple experiment which fitted in beautifully with our theme. So each child came to school armed with a 2l coke bottle! There was great excitement.

Each group filled up their bottles with water. They then placed a bit of prestick on the top and bottom of a 'bic' type pen lid. They had to test it to see that it floated.

Now came the test . They popped it into the 2l coke bottle. As they squeezed the bottle the diver sank to the bottom and when they released it the diver went to the top. Some of the children were successful and others didn't get it to work but nevertheless there was a great deal of laughter, excitement as well as loads of water everywhere!!
